100 Million Subscribers For Netflix

Netflix, which is currently valued at $78 billion, now has more than 100 million subscribers worldwide. The highly successful streaming service, which is now 1.5 times bigger than Rupert Murdoch’s 21st Century Fox, has managed to add 5.2million subscribers in the second quarter.

 

More than 4million of new users are from outside the US who have been lured by Netflix highly successful shows including Orange is the New Black, The Crown and Stranger Things.

 

The company’s share price increased by almost 10per cent to $180 in after-hours trading in New York on Monday. By Tuesday, share prices reached $183.

 

For founder Reed Hastings, said: “Creating a TV network is now as easy as creating an app, and investment is pouring into content production around the world. We are all co-pioneers of internet TV and, together, we are replacing linear TV.”
